It is a tough time for illustrators to complete.  It’s true that the industry, like the country, (world?) is in difficult times.  But I am cautiously optimistic actually.  Work is still there – it HAS to be because the markets need children’s books, which need illustrations! My best advice to artists to avoid becoming “MIA” yourselves, is to “stay IN action.” Work at work harder than ever, and take on all you can, and do the BEST you can with every job.  Develop solid relationships and you will be remembered when the good times come again.
